A clean bum is a healthy one

Working for excellence and becoming master

No doubt poo is a filthy, but necessary thing. Once laid in the water-grave that it deserves to reside, the bum must be cleaned. The filthy beast is the one that doesn’t. It’s not worth dwelling on such low-lives. Then there are the ignorant. The ignorant are aware of at least this much that the bum requires cleaning because not doing so is unhealthy, make them prone to infection and disease and excommunication to filthy beast status. Sadly, they don’t go far enough with their cleaning. The Western World lives in great ignorance, satisfied with tissue rolls and streak marks on their underwear. Enlightenment is found in the East; they use water and clean thoroughly. Through a hose or a special cannister made for the purpose, the East has understood one thing, if a job must be done, it must be done well, done with excellence.

There is no substitute for excellence – fulfilling your task in a manner with completion in the best possible manner. If wisdom is putting things in their right place, excellence is all about how that is done. It requires the right intention, the right method, the right tools, the right goal and the right manner of dealing with the consequences. People will have us think that there are multiple ways of doing things, which is correct, but there are only a finite (limited) ways that are correct and excellent in that they yield the best outcomes for individual and society. Being excellent is different from feeling excellent. The former is the state, the latter may or not be because of being state of excellence. If one feels excellent and isn’t actually then they are fools deluded, arrogant.

For the true master, excellence is about being and to be excellent one must be in constant practice. And of that which the master practices is predominantly the fundamentals of whatever discipline they put their mind and heart to. The master has a keen eye for details. The master has an unending resource of patience. The master is as invested in the process as they are invested in results all the while accepting that they will not always be in control and is willing to submit to chaos if required. The master lives in the reality of life while humbly accepts that their perception of reality is limited by their experiences and senses. The master is conscious of the river of time that they live in and are very sensitive to how it flows by them. The master fulfils their responsibility, ever ready to be taken into account and ever aware of opportunities that will reduce the burden of both.

But if there’s anything that defines a master above anything else, that is their decision to love – always.
